Chad his brother got 5th. I got 4th in 40+ on my Mountainslayer. Rob Kingwill, World Boards team pro rider for 21 years!!!, got 2nd in pro men. It was a fun and yet very challenging and long course full of jumps, drops and tabletops, with times in at around 2 minutes on average. Leg burner!!

We are down in Jackson Hole this week at Rob Kingwill’s Pow Wow. It is an invite only powder board test and gathering of many heavy hitters in the industry. Today was a great riding day as we milked pow up high off Pucker Face Figure 8’s and others. Chad and I rode Gentemstick boards and had a load of fun checking out their traditional powder shapes. They are well built Japanese designed boards with wood and clear top sheets. This is a photo of Kinger explaining one of his descents of “Once is enough” chute in the background

Nicolas has been riding Big Sky for the last few days. He is visiting along with the Nixon watches sales crew and athletes. On his way out of town he dropped by to check out the store. He has never been here though we were the exclusive Arcus USA distributor for 5 years, R.I.P. Anyway it was fun to have him around albeit for a short time. Pictured is Willy and Nicolas standing in front of a B & W shot of Nicolas buttering the pow!

Gigi Ruff is the rider of the year that is for certain. With that title from Snowboarder AND now from TWSnowboarding it’s clear. Gigi also got standout performance of the year for winning Supernatural. What more can be said than, “He is incredible.” SLASH by Gigi is his board company and he is intimately involved in all his designs. You can see the boards at the shop and of course next season we will have them as soon as they are available.

Check out this super creative movie short. I have hiked over a lot of this terrain and fished in some of these spots. Each spring we hike in a lot of the slot canyons in this whole zone. I truly have envisioned rolling on some of the landscape, skating in my mind. But I never actually took my board along as Clay does.

The Mountainslayers are here!Comments Off on The Mountainslayers are here!

The Never Summer built World Boards Mountainslayer snowboards are finally here! Many years of experience have gone into this design; I hope you like it. So far I am totally stoked checking them in and flexing them and going over every one by hand. Never Summer does such great work. This cambered board has an all mountain twinish shape and is light and mid damp. The nose and tail are not too scooped so they break through crud and don’t’ plow the snow. And with a carbon rod in the front only, the nose is rendered a bit stiffer than the tail, just barely. That makes this thing float well and not fold on a mach speed outrun. It is NOT a tapered tail board and has a firm flex but it is not a beast to ride since it has a Biaxial glass layup; you can manipulate this thing torsionally and steer it with your feet in tight terrain. The nose and tail have POP with carbon V’s and there is a carbon X under each foot to drive power to your edge in a flash. The 5501 Sintered black non die cut base is the hardest and fastest money can buy. It intentionally has no die cuts for durability and ease of repair. You can slay the entire mountain on this thing. With a beautiful Travis Anderson shot of sunrise on the east side of the Bridger’s you may want to hang one on your wall.

Jones AviatorComments Off on Jones Aviator

The new Jones Aviator is here. This board picks up where the Twin leaves off. It is stiffer and more aggressive than the twin but is not hard to ride due to the no catch design. Out at the contact points tip & tail the base is beveled up 2 degrees while the board is pressed. This raised area makes for catch free initiation into turns and adds a bit of forgiveness when needed. Even under or over rotate a spin? Ever ride in grabby variable snow? The slight bevel helps smooth out riding and yet the board is super poppy since it is camber. And the tip is a bit stiffer than the tail which makes it not bounce when ripping choppy run outs and going machzilla. Get one!! For more info check it out at www.jonessnowboards.com/Aviator
